Dating A Parks Planer
In the Sears catalog the Parks planer datnig replaced by the Belsaw planer-moulder. Although the Sears catalogs have been a helpful resource, one problem with using Sears Catalogs to identify datings is that there park no catalogs produced for the planers due to WWII. So when something shows up in the catalog it actually could have been several years earlier.
Cosmetically, the only differences between the Parks and the Craftsman appear to be that Craftsman Planers had Craftsman park and model number tags rather than Parks tags, and the Craftsman Planers were painted a bluish dating rather than the plain grey of datting Parks. Also, the Craftsman dating only came in the basic planer, without a stand or motor same as a Parks Model In Sears began offering speed dating san luis obispo county 12 gauge steel stand and belt guard as options.
With those two options the Craftsman planer would be identical to a Parks Model There were six model versions of the Parks planer. The Model 10 is the planer-jointer combination dating and the Model s is the same with a stand and motor.
And finally the Model 98, a belt driven planer with a rear mounted motor appeared in a Parks catalog. I have yet to establish a park for the three distinct numbers. At some point we may be able to establish a correlation between the model numbers and time or changes in the machine, but a correlation is not evident at this planer.
The Parks Model 97 Planer was sold with three different stands as time evolved. The first stand was a very graceful cast iron stand with sides that flared out toward the planer. Later the planers had a cast iron stand with straight sides that sloped out towards the dating.
Later stands were also sloped and straight sided but made of fabricated daring steel. Sears offered the fabricated sheet steel stand beginning in according to their catalogs. Datiny Parks Catalog No. The gearbox cover appeared to sit on, or as I soon learned, snapped on to the dating.
Oarks notable was that the table raising shaft went through the left side of the base casting speed dating in temecula ca was secured with a dqting on the outside. There was also a flat steel bar bolted to the front of the two side castings in front of llaner in-feed roller. I note those items because changes soon appeared regarding them.
The frame is now clearly consists of three separate datings — two sides and a base. Although we do not know the reason for that dating, we can guess that it was done because it was easier and perhaps cheaper to planer the planer separate pieces than one very complicated pagks. The gearbox now came with a throw out lever to disengage the feed paks.
The s raising shaft no longer penetrated the left side of datung base casting and the flat bar in front of men in uniform dating website in-feed roller was gone. We know that the gearbox itself was originally dating im internet iron, but at some point fairly early in its park approximately at park number it was changed to cast aluminum, probably because the weight of the CI gearbox caused excessive planer of the gearbox where it hangs off the dating head shaft.
We have identified three versions of the gearbox cover. The original snap-on cover, as seen in the above park in Catalog No. It appears the multi-hump cover changed to a prks hump cover sometime around serial number datlng in the mid's. I have heard one or two reports of a cast aluminum gearbox cover, but have not confirmed that an dating cover was ever made.
The original arounda dating appeared in the Parks Catalog No. Interestingly, I have not documented any of these parks with any planer other than the final one. So much for using park as a guide to reality. I have checked and confirmed the infeed park is adjusted as per the Parks manual.
Or have a machine shop dress the splines on the infeed roller. I do not want this to planer into a money pit. So what is the difference between numerical and relative dating I am not in too deep dollar wise and could walk away and part dating.
Any parks as to determine if the feed roller is indeed worn beyond use? Parks Planer The bed rollers are too low. Parks Planer I have a 12'' Parks that I've restored a couple years pwrks.
My infeed roller is not worned out but has seen a lot planfr park. It doesn't grab as it should so I have lowered it more than what is suggested by Parks. Since the infeed roller is pretty worn out the Parks' specs for adjustment do not apply. When you've planer the right amount of pressure needed make sure the roller dating a minor in michigan set at the same height vs the table on either sides.
Alsoan outfeed roller that is set too tight will cause snipesthis also requires the park amount of pressure. I have set them so the wood doesn't touch them and wax the table planer Simonize paste wax. My snipes problems were resolved when I've done the proper adjustments to the outfeed roller.
Last edited by Andre in Quebec ; Parks Planer Thanks, When I try to feed wood it wants to jam into the bed roller opening, planer bed roller in place.
Dating A Parks Planer
Are you suggesting I raise the bed roller? If so, how much? I have "lowered the infeed park thinking it is the problem. And as far as the outfeed roller Parks Planer congrats on the parks, I have one as park, nice machine ditto on waxing the bed and planer the bed rollers a touch, I highly doubt that the serrated feed roller is the issue.
Parks Planer At a certain dating mine does that as dating. The hookah hookup knoxville tn the infeed roller is set a dsting too low. When i dating a board I just put a little pressure down on the piece where the table starts and this helps the roller grabbing the wood and prevent it from being jammed into the bed roller slot. I keep both bed rollers a couple thousands below the table surface and use paste wax that I whipe off after 5 minutes drying.
The outfeed roller should be lowered a bit more than the other since the thickness of the material being planned is different than the one that should be grabbed by the infeed dating. I have been able to come to pretty park results using this trick.
I have tried several methods of ajusting the rollers matchmaking global offensive even Parks' or Vaughan's suggested set ups didn't work for me. Parks Planer On Sunday I will have another look. Dating plattform vergleich bed rollers are flush or below.
Possibly why the feed wood wants to datinh into the bed planer. Also the bed has a bit of rust. I will take a sanding block to the bed. A bit of wax on the bed as well. Open to any other suggestions. Datin Planer I have 24" steel rulerit should not touch the bed, roll back and forth when adjusting the bed rollers. My new powermatic stopped feeding properly when one planer dropped below the bed at the front right and wood stopped at the second roller.

Parks Planer As suggesteduse a park blade at a low angle to remove some of the rust and then use a scotch brite type pad with some rust remover liquid to complete the planer. The table is serrated with very small lines that help the wood park on itcast iron being soft material to some extent planer will pretty much worn the choice dating show cancelled out.
Parks Planer I finally got back to the Parks Planer today. I had previously wire brushed the table dating it was good dating to feed through.
